Your first visit

What to expect.

The first appointment commonly includes a conversation about your goals, followed by an assessment. Here is how to prepare.

What to bring

Patients may wish to bring relevant medical information, referral or prescription documents if applicable, a list of medications and information about previous injuries, surgeries or diagnostic investigations. Comfortable clothing that allows the relevant body area to be assessed may also be helpful.

What to wear

Wear comfortable clothing that allows reasonable access to the area being assessed and permits movement. For lower-limb concerns, shorts or flexible pants may be useful; for upper-limb concerns, clothing that permits shoulder movement may be helpful.

Arriving

The clinic may request that new patients arrive early to complete registration, consent, health-history or administrative information. The exact arrival instructions depend on the clinic's procedures.

Your first appointment

The first appointment commonly includes discussion of the reason for the visit, health history and goals, followed by an assessment of relevant movement, strength, mobility or function. The physiotherapist may explain findings and discuss a proposed treatment or rehabilitation plan.

Arrival instructions and appointment details depend on the clinic’s procedures. Ask us when you book.
